Chris Bliss with Penn Jillette

Saturday, April 15th, 2006

Here’s a podcast on FreeFM with Penn Jillette interviewing Chris Bliss, talking about Chris’s MyBillOfRights.org project to put monuments to the Bill of Rights in every state capital in the US, and Penn’s securityedition.com metal “playing cards” that you can intentionally carry when going thru a metal detector and let them “take your Bill of Rights” from you as a subtle protest.

I Saw Chris Bliss!

Sunday, April 9th, 2006

I don’t often read the dead-tree edition of the newspaper anymore. I happened to glance at a paper earlier in the week and discovered that the Improv in San Jose had a comedy act cancel and was filling in with a Chris Bliss appearance. I ran into Michelle and Ken at Barefoot Coffee, explained that I was interested in going, and they though it sounded good too. We got tickets for the second showing on Saturday night.

The other 2 acts were OK, not horrible but not buckets of laughs either. Chris wasn’t the best commedian I’ve ever heard, but not the worst either.

He had an interlude between the comedy portion of his act and the juggling – he talked about his latest project MyBillOfRights.org. The organization is raising money to put monuments of the Bill Of Rights in every state capital in the US. They aren’t accepting any corporate money and the maximum donation from any individual is capped at $250. His theory is that if he can’t raise the money from individuals then there isn’t enough interest to get this done – it’s all about getting people excited about their Bill Of Rights, not just about getting the monuments built.

And then he did the juggling, which is even more wonderful in person than it is in the video on the internet. Oh, and he mentioned that his video is getting downloaded at such volume that his website host said “it’s doing porn video volume”. heh.

SUV commercial fun

My friend Sam has had fun creating his own commercials for the Chevy Tahoe SUV. IMHO the last one is the best.
